December 15, 2017Here Are The Top 5 Sealcoating FAQ’s We Get Asked:
- Why is it important to sealcoat pavement?
Sealcoating should be a part of your pavement’s Preventative Maintenance Program. Spend a little now to save a LOT later. - How long does sealcoating last?
It depends on how old your pavement is. Sealcoating can last up to three years if your pavement is in great shape, but older asphalt may need to be redone every year. - How long does it take to dry?
Depending on the humidity, it may take only 5 hours to dry, but you should wait 24 hours to really let it cure before driving any vehicles on it. - What causes the most wear and tear to a sealcoated asphalt surface?
In Ohio, we’ve got some extreme weather conditions, including freezing temperatures and snow in the wintertime, and the snowplowing can really take a toll on your pavement. Also, sand, salt, water run off and severe temperature swings can all run havoc on asphalt. - Can sealcoating protect large cracks, or little spider cracks in pavement?
No. Sealcoating won’t seal cracks, nor will it smooth out rough asphalt surfaces. Learn more about Crack Sealing and Repairs.
